Operations Supervisor - 3rd Shift

Description:

This Operations Supervisor role is tasked with driving continuous improvement and optimizing all processes on 3rd shift within a multi-functional automotive mechanical and specialty paint facility directly servicing multiple OEM clients. This role oversees all 3rd shift operations within the plant, which includes automotive mechanical, paint, fabrication, milling, composite, parts, shipping/receiving, logistics, maintenance and quality to ensure policies and procedures are followed, while maximizing operational performance. This individual must have the key skills to drive all processes that maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity. Effective communication to all levels of the organization, on all shifts, is an essential element of this job. This position is expected to work side by side with the team as necessary.

Essential job functions:

  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our clients’ expectations, in direct partnership with the Plant Manager
  • Increase production, asset capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
  • Manage systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
  • Collect and analyze data to find instances of waste or excessive overtime
  • Responsibility for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus for operational team
  • Commit to and further drive plant safety procedures
  • Insert appropriate corrective actions where required
  • Build a strong relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant team
  • Address Team Member issues or grievances and administer corrective action in partnership with Human Resources

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required
  • Experience working in automotive manufacturing/production environment

Requires the Following Skills:

  • Excellent communication, both oral and written. Must be able to communicate effectively via telephone, email and written means
  • Proven knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources and profit & loss)
  • Familiarity with automotive industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Knowledgeable in areas of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
  • Computer literacy- ability to produce Excel & PowerPoint information and present capably, as needed
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skill

Must be able to list up to 75 lbs.
